Visiting the Refuge

The Refuge Visitor Center hours:

Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Missisquoi NWR is located in the northwest corner of Vermont in the town of Swanton and Highgate. The Refuge also has a unit in Derby, Vermont as well as one in Westville, New York.

The Refuge Visitor Center, located at 29 Tabor Road, is open to the public weekdays from 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM.  It is closed on federal holidays. Visitors are welcome to view the many educational exhibits, learn about refuge management programs and find out what’s going on at the Refuge to benefit both wildlife and people.

Missisquoi’s trails are open every day from dawn until dusk for walking, skiing, or snowshoeing.  All trails have posted annual closures during hunting seasons except the Black Creek/Maquam Creek Trail, which is open year-round. Contact the Refuge for more information.

The Missisquoi River can be accessed at the boat launch at Louie’s Landing on Rt. 78. The Mac’s Bend boat launch is available from September through December each year.
